A funny...

I am terribly behind in reading my favorite blogs.

Our relief night auditor quit this week, so I am back on the night shift for weekends until we find somebody new.  The good thing is that I can take some time and find out what is happening in everybody's lives.

My pal Jane's blog is a favorite of mine because of her knitting talent and all the beautiful pictures that are always a part of her site.

What got my attention the most (for once) wasn't her latest beautifully knit item (her socks are always amazing), but another thing she was discussing.

She bought a bird feeder called a Yankee Flipper. 

The name sounded interesting, so I went to the site to see what it was.  There is a video that is probably the funniest thing I have seen all week.

FCS: The Survey...

As I mentioned earlier, I signed up for the second round of Favorite Color Swap. 

Here is my questionnaire from the last round.  Not much has changed, but here are my answers for this round:

1. What are your top three favorite colors?
My top two favorites are green and blue, but I am having this odd fascination with orange and brown lately.  I can't explain that one, as I have never been a big fan of those two colors.

2. What crafts do you really enjoy?
When I used to have time and energy, I did rubber stamping.  However, school only permits me one creative habit right now and that is knitting.

3. What products do you really covet?
The only thing that I am really wanting right now is a pair of sock blockers.  I'm not really sure why I need them, but they would be fun to have.

4. What other activities do you enjoy besides your favorite crafty things?
I watch entirely too much television and like to read whenever I have time, which is not often.  I take a bath every night before bed to read magazines and unwind.  It is all about juggling work, school and trying to have a life for me right now.

5. Is there anything you collect?
Um.. sock yarn?  I am terribly eclectic.  I collect Eeyore memorabilia, along with weird office/school supplies and the small Sharpie markers (thanks, Susan!).

6. What is your zodiac sign and/or Chinese zodiac symbol?
I am a Virgo and according to a little bit of internet searching, I found out that I am a Fire Dragon.

7.What are your favorite…

…scents/smells?
I am really enjoying candles right now.  My current favorite smell is Sensual Amber from Bath and Body Works.  I have been going through their candles like crazy!  My perennial favorite, though, is Yankee Candle's Honeydew Melon.

…types of music and/or bands?
My musical tastes are so varied that it is crazy!  I listen primarily to country radio, but adore just about anything other than rap and R&B.

…authors?
Pat Conroy, Janet Evanovich, Dorothea Benton Frank, Emily Giffin, Jane Green and I am obviously waiting for the new release by J.K. Rowling. 

…animals?
I have this odd fascination with penguins, as well as cute kittens.

…places to shop?
I love to spend time (and money) in yarn stores, bookstores, candle stores, Old Navy, Target, along with other cool places with odd paper goods.

…season?
I am a big fan of the time in the fall before it gets terribly cold and snowy, especially when it finally reaches temperatures low enough to wear knitted items.

…yarn/fabric/paper/other craft supplies?
I love to look for odd pens, Post-Its and other fun office supplies.  I also like to find goofy little crafts to do, such as painting silly things or using pom poms.  I do have a horrible phobia of hot glue guns, though.

…candies or goodies?
Gummy bears, peanut M&Ms, sour candy, Starbursts and all kinds of candy like that are my favorite.  The sugarier it is, the more I like it. 

8. Do you have any wish lists?
I have one on Amazon, which is located here.

9. Are you allergic to anything?
While not allergic, I do not deal well with cigarette smoke.

10. Do you have any pets? What are they?
I have a 5 month old kitten named Christopher, who is getting tired of having his picture taken.

11. Please include anything else you would like your secret pal to know about you- anything that would be helpful in finding you little gifts that you will really enjoy.
I don't really know what to say, other than I am going through a huge sock knitting phase.  I just enjoy getting fun surprises and love to see the thought that goes into packages that I get!

I heard from my pal, who seems to really be on top of things.

Feline Friday Flash...

It's back!

I got a new cell phone a week or two ago.  This one is spiffy and has a camera that can actually send pictures out, rather than keep them inside forever and ever!  Yay!

A day away...

I took a day off yesterday and it felt wonderful!

I had originally asked off from work because I was planning to take a very quick day trip to Nashville. 

The plan was to leave Tuscaloosa in the morning and drive to Threaded Bliss Yarns to hang out for an hour or two. 

There are all kinds of fun new developments happening at my not-so-LYS that I need to investigate.  I was going to sit, gab and knit (!) with some of my favorite people in one of my favorite places.  It would have been (pardon the pun) blissful.

I was then going to have dinner and hang out with my pal Ashley, who I haven't seen in ages.  We talk on the phone all the time, but it is not the same.  She is so much fun and I miss her terribly!

The combination of Nashville getting snow and the fact that I had to be at work early the next morning unfortunately foiled those plans.

So.. I went to plan B.

Allen had been talking about the opening of Urban Outfitters in Birmingham.  I had been craving Panera Bread in the worst way.  Those two elements combined to put a new plan to get away into action, so off we went.

Our main destination was The Summit, which is an upscale outdoor mall.  It had been ages since I had been there, so it was neat to see how much it had grown.  There are all kinds of fun places there now. 

We ate, shopped and simply had a grand time.  I spent a little too much money, but it was fun.  I got some candles, some clothes and a new knitting bag.

My plan upon getting home was to study for a bit and then go to bed, as I was to be at work at an early time.  I was trying to put together a balance sheet when my boss called to beg me to work the overnight.   I slept for a few minutes and then scurried off to the hotel.

Other than the sudden trip to work, it was a really relaxing day.  It was totally what I needed.

Oh.. and watch out, NashVegas... a surprise attack is coming..

Hello, Blog World...

I'm back!

Did ya miss me?

(I bet you are glad to see me, so that the scary Dutch person with the painted face will go further down the page.. right?)

School and work are kicking my rear harder than I could have imagined. 

This is the first semester since my return to school that I have actually had to (dare I say it?) study.  And I don't like it.  Not one bit.

I am sleep deprived, my TiVo is full and I haven't picked up yarn or a needle in a long time.  It's kinda sad.

My classes are going well so far, but my hospitality accounting class is just the thorn in my side.  My teacher is great, but I just don't get it. 

Credits, debits.. who needs them? 

I tend to understand things when I am reviewing them at home, as opposed to when my professor is doling them out.

In other news, I did find out some really fun information the other day. 

This summer, I am planning to take three classes at a community college.  They will be a math, a science and a history.  What fun.

If I make it through that, I will only have 6 credit hours left to graduate.

So, if all goes well, I will graduate on December 15, 2007.

It's not far.

Not far at all.

That's good news, right?
